This is an individual contributor and supportive team role within the Accounting Department of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce which includes, but not limited to, assisting in the organization’s accounting operations and maintaining compliant systems and procedures. Skill Requirements:

    • Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office Professional applications
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
    • 3+ years of accounting experience
    • Experience working with Sage Accounting software
    • Accuracy and attention to detail
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
    • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to handle multiple projects
    • A self-starter as well as a team player
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation

Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends when necessary.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general accounting tasks including accounts receivable, accounts payable, preparation of journal entries, accruals, supporting schedules, allocations and account reconciliations
  • Process accounts payable transactions including review of appropriate documentation and approvals, coding, input and producing checks
  • Prepare and distribute monthly invoices for tenants, General and Chairman’s Club memberships, HRMA memberships, and Partnership Gwinnett/PFE investors
  • Process banking transfers, deposits and other transactions as approved by management
  • Develop and/or modify reports in Sage system as required by management
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements
  • Gather and analyze information from other departments to facilitate monthly closing
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • Verify and maintain schedules and spreadsheets
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
  • Research and analyze accounts as needed/required
  • Perform accounting administrative duties such as general bookkeeping tasks, data entry, and maintenance of vendor file
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and implementation
  • Assist with annual audit inclusive of identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end closing
  • Assist with year-end closing
  • Prepare yearly 1099s and 1096s
  • Process new membership applications
  • Provide Weblink/Atlas database support as needed
  • Provide daily sales updates to Director of membership
  • Continually implement processes to drive efficiency in all areas of the job
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to Gwinnett Chamber members and staff
  • Cross-train within the department
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and professional development
  • Support Sr. Accounting Manager with any additional items when needed
