Following the Gwinnett Chamber’s August board meeting, Bill Russell and Richard Tucker were honored by Senator Brandon Beach and family members with a Georgia State Highway Naming Unveiling Ceremony.
“Richard and Bill’s fingerprints are all over not only Gwinnett County but the region and the state,” said Senator Brandon Beach. “They have made such a difference in our region and state that I was proud to honor them. They absolutely deserve the accolades for what they’ve done for this community. Their work has put Gwinnett on the map.”
“The naming of State Highway 120 (between State Route 316 and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard) as the Richard L. Tucker Highway is a tremendous honor because it runs through the heart of Gwinnett, a county and community that have been so good to my family and to me,” says Richard Tucker, Managing Partner of Arlington Capital, LLC. “Particular thanks go to the Georgia State Senate and to the business, civic and charitable organizations that have supported my many efforts on behalf of our county and state.”
Richard Tucker is known for his years as President/CEO of the Gwinnett Chamber, serving in this role from 1996-2003. He was later elected Chairman of the Gwinnett Chamber Board in 2005, and currently still serves as a board member. Also, in 2005, Richard was appointed to the University System of Georgia Board of Regents by Governor Sonny Perdue and re-appointed in 2012 and in 2019 by Governor Nathan Deal. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Regents in 2008-2009. Richard proudly served 14 years of service to the University System of Georgia.
“As a longtime Gwinnett business and civic leader, I am extremely honored and humbled to receive this most prestigious recognition to have a significant portion of Georgia Highway 120 (from its intersection with State Route 13 in Duluth to Parsons Road in Johns Creek) named Bill Russell Highway,” says Bill Russell, Chairman of Russell Landscape Group.
Bill Russell served as the Chairman of the Gwinnett Chamber Board in 2004, as well as the Executive Committee from 1998-2019. He received the Chamber’s Public Service Award in 2008 and Gwinnett Citizen of the Year award in 2017. He is also Chairman of the Georgia World Congress, appointed in 2011 by Governor Nathan Deal.
