A Strategic Connector at the Helm

Kim Hartsock describes herself as a connector — a role she plays every day in her professional life and now as the Board Chair at the Gwinnett Chamber. Whether she’s aligning business leaders with the right expertise, helping teams think more strategically or championing businesses across Gwinnett, Hartsock is focused on making connections that move people and the community forward.

That mindset is central to her work as the Local Partner in Charge – Growth for the Atlanta office of Warren Averett, an award-winning accounting and advisory firm with 13 locations across the Southeast. The firm serves a diverse client base across many industries, including manufacturing, real estate, financial services, and healthcare, offering a suite of professional services ranging from accounting and tax to technology and strategic consulting. “Our company is built around a 360-degree wheel with the client at the center,” Hartsock explains. “We looked at the services our clients needed and developed A-plus experts in each segment.”

A CPA by training, Hartsock began her time at Warren Averett in traditional accounting roles. Over more than 20 years at the firm, she has evolved into a growth and strategy leader who thrives on helping clients see what’s possible. “I think of myself as the matchmaker, the connector,” she says. “We have such a great team, and I love connecting clients with the best experts at the right time so they can achieve what’s important to them.”

Priorities for the Year in Gwinnett

While her office is in Buckhead, Hartsock lives in Gwinnett and is deeply connected to the community through church, schools, nonprofits and friendships. She is a self-described “raving fan” of the Gwinnett Chamber and credits the organization with helping her build strong professional roots across the county.

As Board Chair, she is focused on strengthening alignment across four pillars of Gwinnett’s growth engine:

  • Gwinnett Young ProfessionalsAdvancing leadership by engaging young professionals so they grow their careers and stay in the community.
  • Gwinnett Chamber FoundationAccelerating growth opportunities for entrepreneurs and expanding access to capital and mentorship.
  • Partnership GwinnettDriving new businesses and investment into the county.
  • Gwinnett ChamberConnecting business leaders, strengthening companies and advocating for a strong business environment.

While each group serves a different segment of the business community, Hartsock emphasizes that they’re all working toward the same goal – to champion business and Champion Gwinnett. “Our unified message is that Gwinnett is a great place to work, live and play,” she says. “As our efforts become more aligned and our message is amplified, we can champion business more than ever before.”

She is also eager to reach business leaders who are not yet involved with the Chamber, as well as members who may not be fully engaged. “If you aren’t actively involved in the Gwinnett Chamber, you are missing out,” Hartsock says. “From educational programs and networking opportunities to programs that amplify your voice and promote your business, you’ll find it all here. And if you’re unsure where you fit in, come to an event and talk with us. There’s a place for everyone.”

Looking Ahead

Hartsock is optimistic about Gwinnett’s future, pointing to developments such as the Gas South District, the transformation of the Gwinnett Place Mall, the county’s growing educational institutions and renewed interest in living within Gwinnett’s municipalities. “There’s truly a place for young professionals, families and people in all stages of their careers,” she notes.

She also sees continued momentum in the technology sector and encourages business leaders to embrace innovation as a growth driver. “We hear so much about AI and emerging technology,” Hartsock says. “I encourage leaders to lean into it and learn how it can make your company more efficient. There are so many resources right here in our own backyard to help leaders learn and stay current.”

For Hartsock, serving as Board Chair is both a professional honor and a personal commitment. “This is my home and my community,” she says. “I’m excited to help connect people, ideas and resources so Gwinnett continues to thrive.”
