The Georgia General Assembly convened this week for legislative days 21 through 24. Legislators will return to the Capitol next week for Legislative Days 25 through 27. Crossover Day, the last day in which a legislation can pass from one chamber to the other to continue being considered, is Tuesday, March 15. Sine Die, the last day of session is Monday, April 4. Next week is also qualifying week for 2022 elections.
Speaking of elections, Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler announce he is not seeking a fourth term. Gwinnett School Board Member Everton Blair also announced he is no longer running for State School Superintendent.
On Tuesday, President Joe Biden gave his first State of the Union speech where a large focus was towards the Ukraine-Russia crisis, voicing solidarity with Ukraine. Regarding the economy, President Biden urged made-in-America and Buy-America as part of the solution to combat record inflation.
Yesterday, Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson delivered her second State of the County Address in front of 800 business and community leaders highlighting the success our county had this past year.
