November 7 was election day, and residents in fifteen of Gwinnett’s cities had the opportunity to vote for their city officials, including Mayor and City Council. Below are notable results from Tuesday’s election night.

The cities of Auburn, Duluth, and Lilburn will welcome a change in the mayoral seat: Richard (Rick) E. Roquemore (Auburn), Greg Whitlock (Duluth), and Johnny Crist (Lilburn). Crist previously served as Mayor of Lilburn from 2012 to 2020.

City of Buford had a contested race for Board of Education and Cory Burge was elected over Carolyn Buffington.

City of Loganville’s City Council holds at large votes where the top three candidates are elected. Incumbent Bill DuVall together with newcomers Lisa Newberry and Patti Wolfe, were elected.

None of the candidates in City of Snellville’s City Council Post 1 captured 50 percent plus one vote. Catherine Hardrick will join Norman A. Carter in a run-off on Tuesday, December 5.

Similarly in Sugar Hill, incumbent Jenn Thatcher and challenger Meg Avery received equal votes (729). This city council post will head to a run-off on Tuesday, December 5.
