The business of America is business. Paraphrasing the nation’s 30th President, Calvin Coolidge, U.S. Representative Rich McCormick emphasized the importance of empowering local businesses to create jobs and invest in their employees and communities. Speaking at a Gwinnett Chamber roundtable event sponsored by E2E Resources, Inc. at Sugar Hill, McCormick opened with a presentation of special congressional recognition to the Gwinnett Chamber for its “Chamber of the Year” honor by the Association of Chambers of Commerce Executives (ACCE). “Relationships matter,” stated McCormick. “And chambers of commerce are leaders in fostering relationships among businesses, local governments, and the community.”

McCormick also highlighted his legislative priorities in energy policy and immigration reform. While we, especially in Georgia, look towards the booming investment in the EV industry, McCormick outlined the role of the federal government — to give businesses and individuals the freedom to choose their own energy source. As for immigration, McCormick believes fixing our broken immigration system is key to resolving the workforce challenges that stunt economic growth and innovation.

Congressman McCormick represents Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, which includes portions of Sugar Hill in Gwinnett County. He serves on the House Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, and Science, Space, and Technology Committees, as well as the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
