Gwinnett Leadership Organization for Women (GLOW) brought together intelligent leaders from across the region to hear from renowned author and public speaker Whtinee Hawthorne. Hawthorne is the founder of The Savvy Working Mom, an organization dedicated to helping women go beyond the balancing act to find confidence and passion at work and in their homes.
Hawthorne provided insights and practical tips on being a working parent in today’s society, identifying some key areas of focus that women should consider and apply in their everyday routines. She shared how to overcome self-doubt to achieve peace and prosperity while juggling all that a “working mom” has to navigate. Her advice centered around finding clarity and a realistic perspective on each day, prioritizing time and energy to ensure that there is enough for those people and tasks that are important to the present and the future, and how managing one’s to-do list and saying “no” can truly bring power and increased productivity. Likely her most practical takeaway of the day was understanding the importance of creating a self-care plan, noting that working moms who are not caring for themselves, are not able to effectively care for others.
