In an era where technological advancements are reshaping industries, Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) stands out as a transformative force, revolutionizing the way businesses operate. Gwinnett Chamber members learned this and more during this month’s On Topic luncheon presented by Porter Steel.
Dave McMullen, President of Media Frenzy Global, opened the conversation around A.I. defining its limitations. It cannot be a moral compass. It cannot feel its way through a problem to solve it. But what it can do is capture what humans create, what actions they take, and then “automate the mundane to free the brain.” After all, human expertise as McMullen shared is simply “patterned recognition” of what people learn over time about a subject or experience. So rather than fear this game-changing technology, how can businesses embrace it, use it to enhance productivity, and position themselves to be relevant and leading organizations in the future? This is what McMullen explored with guest panelists David Schey, senior vice president of customer experience and head of data strategy at Zeta, and Kurt Uhlir, managing partner of Ethereal Innovations.
Over the past decade, A.I. has evolved from a concept discussed in research labs to a practical and indispensable tool for businesses across various sectors. One of the primary advantages of A.I. that these panelists discussed was its unquestionable ability to enhance every company’s efficiency and productivity. It plays a pivotal role in automating routine and repetitive tasks, freeing up human resources to focus on more strategic and creative aspects of the business. A second advantage noted is A.I.’s potential to revolutionize the customer experience allowing companies to deliver targeted marketing campaigns, personalized recommendations, and individualized customer support, fostering stronger relationships and loyalty.
Executing these advanced processes while understanding the continued need for talent development that entry-level jobs – often replaced by A.I. – provide is where companies need to be cautious, noted the experts. A.I. can only be useful as long as knowledgeable professionals know how to use it. Embracing A.I. is not just a technological choice; it is a strategic imperative for businesses looking to thrive in the digital age. By integrating A.I. responsibly, businesses will not only stay competitive but also shape a future where technology augments human capabilities, leading holistically to a more productive and sustainable business community.
