The Georgia General Assembly convened this week for legislative days 28 through 31. Legislators will return to the Capitol next week for Legislative Days 32 through 35. Sine Die, the last day of session is Monday, April 4.
Tuesday was Crossover Day, the last day in which a legislation can pass from one chamber to the other to continue being considered. A marathon of bills in both chambers were considered as votes were taken through the night. Lawmakers passed a bill to suspend the gas tax until June 1, 2022. Governor Kemp signed the $30 billion Amended Fiscal Year 2022 Budget that includes restoring funding cuts made to public education during the pandemic, pay raises to state employees, $8 million towards the state’s healthcare exchange, $198 million to improve transportation and transit networks, and more.
Through a small effort to support our allies in Ukraine, the Gwinnett Chamber contributed $1,000 to support the American Chamber of Commerce of Ukraine (AmCham Ukraine) and their families. The funds will be distributed to the AmCham Ukraine employees.
